When I was a little girl, I used to walk along the roads and wondered why there was trash everywhere I went to. I saw some areas being turned into the garbage dump. There was full of garbage along the streets and sidewalks. And when I have grown up, I still see trash being thrown everywhere. This issue still happens in the largest city of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City. I think the citizens here are too familiar with this bad issue and also feel that it is normal. Now, when I am a student in the environment science, I have studied about environment science, and why we should protect our natural environment, then I change my perception on environment. I started to concern of the environment. I have started thinking, how can we bear when living in a beautiful city between a giant garbage dump? I realized that garbage dumps affect not only the human health but also the city aesthetic. It still has negative effects on myself and local people who live near dumps. Therefore, I found the students who have the same awareness, then we planned to clean the city, and we came together, made the plan to turn the garbage dumps into the flower gardens. From cleaning the garbage to improving the soil to recycling the garbage, we transform the garbage dumps into the beautiful flower parks. Besides, we communicate with the inhabitant about the ideas, change their mind and decorate the garden with them.
Would the garbage dumps spreading all over the city disappear? Would we have the ability to do it? Finally, we succeeded in changing dumps into flower gardens. With the cooperation of the local authorities, who support our plan a lot and also fund our plan. Finally, we are happy when we made our dream come true and we can apply our environmental knowledge to make surrounding environment become better.
